Vegan and Allergy Friendly Banana Cinnamon Protein Shake

It’s not too often you find an allergy friendly and vegan protein shake recipe on the market. Many of the recipes out there for dairy free shakes use nut milk or nut butter. Similarly, they’ll use oats, oatmilk, dairy or yogurt.

I’ve tried many times to make a really good vegan and allergy friendly protein shake, but this is the first one I've actually LOVED.

In large part to a discovery I swore I would hate. I guess that's why you never judge a book by its cover. Enter banana milk from Mooala Organic; a plant based milk that's made with water, bananas and sunflower seeds. I thought I would absolutely hate it since I’m super picky about anything banana, but I surprisingly loved it.

It also contains a decent amount of potassium and calcium which are two important nutrients that are not in other non-dairy milk alternatives. Particularly, I know I struggle with getting enough potassium in my day, so this smoothie definitely helps out with that.

I found this milk for the first time at ShopRite, but you can order it in bulk on Amazon and it is making its way into more stores. I have certainly spotted it at Kroger/Publix in recent months.

The other key is a good protein powder. I’ve recently been using Core Perform as a plant based protein powder. Core Perform was developed by a Registered Dietitian (I love supporting those with credentials) with the goal of being gut friendly.

Core Perform is a women owned small business and the Founder/CEO Dasha also happens to be one of the nicest individuals you can ever interact with.

I really appreciate that the powder comes in unique flavors like Maple Banana Bread, Rice Krispy, Lemon etc., The flavors are changing all the time which makes this brand unique compared to others.

I also appreciate the fact that my personal dietition is a huge fan of this brand for my dietary needs.

Now that we've established the essentials, Let’s get blending!

You will need:

Prior to making the smoothie, I would make sure that you have a large banana frozen. The larger and more frozen the banana, the creamier the recipe will come out. I made this recipe (actually the one I happened to film) with a not so frozen banana, and it definitely was not as creamy as all the other times I’ve made it.

Add the frozen banana to the blender first and then add your ice, protein powder, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. I’ll say this every time I write up a protein shake recipe, but PATIENCE IS KEY! Blend until you reach the consistency that you desire.

This is definitley a recipe you'll want to save because it is safe for the majority of the top allergens and the main dietary restrictions that are encountered on a daily basis. This means all the ones you love can have a taste of this healthy banana cinnamon protein shake.
