Trader Joe's Discontinued Items That Broke My Heart.

There’s no heartbreak like a product you love, a safe food, or a unique favorite getting discontinued. Trader Joe’s has such speciality items that its known for the disappointment that can occur when a fan favorite goes to the graveyard. Here are the items I wish we could see a return of and who knows maybe one day we will. A sliver of hope always exists right?

Send this post to the CEO haha and let me know in the comments below which products you love that hit the graveyard!

Frozen Staples

  • Chile Lime Chicken Burger

    • This one got me in tears. After a product recall we never saw this one back. I loved the chile lime chicken seasoning, the lighter burger option, and the ease of making it. Begging this one to come back asap. And no.. the new chicken burgers are not equitable at all.

  • Shrimp Sriracha Bowl

    • I’m not a huge rice fan, but this frozen meal was on my three approved freezer meal rotations during my undergraduate college days. I pretty much had one of the three every single Wednesday with my 9hr class schedule (and only one still exists). It definitely needed more shrimp, but the sriracha truly made it come together.

  • Wild Salmon in Yogurt Mint Sauce with Orzo Pasta

    • I was so skeptical of this one, but it’s actually my favorite frozen meal I have ever had from Trader Joe’s. You don’t often find salmon in a freezer meal and the macros on this were unbeatable.

  • Spinach Lasagna

    • I tried this on a whim literally two months before they discontinued it. Anyway, it was tasty and a great vegetarian option.

  • Pumpkin Empanadas

    • They were only around in the fall, but were a great edition to the fall hall when they existed. More of a savory twist on the pumpkin flavor compared to all the sweets that are typically around.

Fridge Items

  • Just White Meat Chicken Chunks

    • My absolute favorite chicken that had nothing, but white meat chunks. It was the absolute best for meal prep, adding into soups, adding into quesadillas etc. It was one ingredient and superior to anything. I believe this was regional at some point, but now I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

  • Ranch Cottage Cheese Dip

    • Hi... I cried and almost had a heart attack in front of the manager this week. I had become OBSESSED with this dip and since I don’t likr the cottage cheese at Trader Joes it was a way to get my cottage cheese fix.

  • Avocado Tzatziki Dip

    • Another tearful loss for me. This dip was unique and my first experience ever having tzatziki. I tried it because I just had to have avocado everything and I quickly made it a diet staple. I loved it in sandwiches, wraps, quesadillas etc.,

  • Romesco Dip

    • This dip was fire on a sandwich with deli turkey or mozzarella cheese. Something unique, different, and non-creamy that I thoroughly enjoyed as something quite different from what I usually ate.

Random Items I enjoyed, but not the end of the world.

  • Reduced Fat Ultra Filtered Lactose Free Chocolate Milk

    • This was a good Fairlife dupe at an affordable price and convenient. I wish they did have these options at Trader Joe’s because it would be nice to buy my milks and yogurts and cottage cheese from this store.

  • Organic Unsweetened Instant Oatmeal Cup

    • I can get this elsewhere, but this one was gluten free and had some chia/flax seeds in it which was a great option!

  •  Original Puffins Cereal

    • I loved when they sold the original/cinnamon puffins here. They only sell the peanut butter ones and I don’t eat those. The original puffins exist at other stores, but its always nice when you can get more items at one store.

  • RX Bars: Pumpkin Spice

    • They used to sell my favorite seasonal RX bars and they don’t seem to carry them anymore. Its all Barebells now which i am not crazy on tbh .
