There are just so many ways to Ninja Creami. You get your sweet treat and your protein all in one. While creami recipes may not be the longest blog posts. I’m committing to publishing some good ones for when you need ideas to fit your needs. And honestly the Ninja Creami has been a game changer for me at night. It’s easier clean-up than a blender, easy to customize macros for the day, and offers a different night snack opportunity to help me meet my needs with my dietitian.
Now, I don’t tend to be an Oreo kinda person. I just don’t love them and always would choose a different cookie instead growing up. However, cookies n’ cream ice cream is probably one of my favorite flavors and my favorite flavor that’s not boring haha. I tend to like more of the classic plain flavors such as coffee, pumpkin, vanilla etc., but cookies n’ cream always slaps!
I recently explored making my own cookies n’ cream creami for a food holiday and while the mix-in was a bit on the sweeter side for me. I did genuinely enjoy basking in this treat.
This recipe packs 30g of protein in it and yes, it does have added artificial sweeteners and added sugars in it. But life is all about balance! And honestly the creami has helped me face some food stressors related to these things.
To make your base use 1 individual container of Jello sugar free chocolate vanilla pre-made pudding swirl! These are super cheap at the grocery store and honestly my mom made us sugar free pudding all the time growing up with the powder and Lactaid 2% milk. I prefer the fresh homemade version, but these little cups are perfect to just have around the household, a convenient light option for a snack and refreshing sugar free option on a hot day. I had bought some when I got food stuck in my throat and was struggling to eat solid food. I needed to use them up before they expired which prompted me to try it in a creami base!
Next, you’ll want to add in Slate Milk’s newest line of 30g protein shake and use the cookies n’ cream flavor! These can be found at Target. I love Slate and I absolutely love that they have a variety of different options for their shakes with flavors and macros. Mix them together and store in the freezer overnight. You can store for 24 hours or honestly my base was even frozen for a few weeks. The beauty of the Ninja Creami and the freezer!
When you take the base out of the freezer you can run the pint under hot water to thaw the sides and take off the lid. Honestly, I tend to run out of patience haha but it is one of the best hacks. Add a splash of milk to the creami. I use Fairlife fat free milk typically. You can use any milk or liquid. Chocolate milk would also make it a tad chocolatier. You’ll run the first spin on the lite ice cream setting. Once it's done mixing, take the creami out of the container and scrape down the sides with a knife. You may also add a splash of extra liquid if needed then you’ll want to hit the respin button. After this step, the creami pint should make a hole in the center where you can add in your cookie mix-ins. I was given the Vanilla Chocolate Cremes from Trader Joes and crumbled them up as my mix-in. Spin the creami on mix-in, take it out, grab a spoon, and enjoy the ultimate homemade dessert.
Now you have a healthier sweet treat filled with protein and cookies! Let me know what creami flavor you want to see next in the comments and tag me on social media @katiekreates_ with your remake creations!
